Disclaimer
Free Backgammon is for fun and learning. Here is what the site does and does not claim.
Entertainment, not gambling
Games on this site are played for fun only. There are no stakes, entry fees, coins, prizes or cash payouts, and the site has no connection to any betting or gambling service. The doubling cube changes the points a game is worth in the match score; it has no money value.
If gambling is causing you harm, please seek help from a support service in your country.
The computer opponent
The computer is a casual opponent that always plays legal moves using simple heuristics. It is not designed to play perfectly, and its moves and cube decisions should not be taken as expert advice. Winning or losing against it says little about how you would do against strong players.
Dice
Dice are rolled with your browser’s cryptographic random number generator, and in private rooms by the server, so every number from 1 to 6 is equally likely on every roll. Streaks of good or bad rolls are a normal part of chance; past rolls do not affect future ones, and no roll is adjusted to help or hinder anyone.
Replays and history
Replays show the moves, dice and cube decisions in the order they happened. They do not mark mistakes, suggest better moves or give you a rating. History is stored in your browser and can be lost if browser data is cleared.
Rules information
The rules guide and printable rules describe the standard rules of backgammon. Clubs, tournaments and families often use their own variations, such as automatic doubles or the Jacoby rule. For tournament play, the rules of the event organiser always take precedence over this site.
Free Backgammon is independent. It is not endorsed by, sponsored by or affiliated with the U.S. Backgammon Federation or any other backgammon organisation, app or tournament.
Accuracy and availability
We check the guide against the game engine and correct errors we find or that readers report, but we cannot guarantee that every page is complete and error-free at all times. The site may change or be unavailable without notice. The terms and conditions explain the limits of our responsibility.

Mentions of or links to other organisations and websites are for information only and are not an endorsement.
